It’s hard to believe that Jack was born a little over a month ago, but the truth is it feels more like its been six or seven months. He’s doing quite well, and I’ve tried hard to spare all of you raw exposure to my brainspace during this time, mostly because it was pretty much All Jack All The Time for a while there. I am quite conscious of how annoying people who talk endlessly about thier kids can be, so even though Sarah and I are quite taken with the little guy I’ll try to keep it down to a dull roar.
It took us a while to get back on track with MegaGear and Megatokyo, but Seraphim and I have made a lot of progress in the last few weeks. Sarah, with the help of her sister, managed to get fully caught up with the MegaGear store and is now shipping orders next day, including most International orders. I’ve been at home taking care of Jack during the day while trying to fit in work on Megatokyo as best I can. It has proven to be more of a challenge than I anticipated, but I’ll get to that in a moment.
As I have pointed out before, Jack’s early arrival was a direct hit on our holiday season at the MegaGear store. Not only did we miss launching our Holiday goods for Black Friday, but we missed Cyber Monday too. Our new stuff finally went live on December 3rd (you may have noticed the new MegaGear banners) and after a lot of hard work everything at the warehouse is on track and running smoothly. If you still have some Christmas shopping to do and live in the States, you should receive your order in time for Christmas since we are now shipping next day. And on that note, lets go for some Shameless Merchandise Promotion!
Be sure to check out this year’s Megatokyo Christmas ornament featuring Santa Zilla in all his stompin’ ch33r! Also available is the Santa Zilla mug and the Ch33rbot mug.
We have a new and rather cool t-shirt with a camouflage-inspired graphic just in time for the big Zombie invasion - the Z0mb13 R4ng3r shirt. We also have a limited selection of a classic Megatokyo t-shirt design, the ph33r shirt.
We also have several new Licence Plate designs, including a N1NJ4 plate, a Non Player Car (NPC) plate, and the rather neat Megatokyo .JP Japanese license plate.
There's a few other things, check out the store for more. It goes without saying that the best way to support us here at Megatokyo (and to help us with the little addition we’ve recently added) is to buy stuff from our store. :) As always, we thank you for your support :)
Now go buy stuff. :)
This will be the first 3-comic week since Jack was born. In the months before his arrival, I was so preoccupied with the worries and concerns surrounding the pregnancy that I was not writing as well I would have liked. After three weeks of new parent boot camp, I dusted off my scripts, my notes and my scribbles and sat down t see where I was at. As expected, I really needed to revisit some of what I wrote (ok, a lot of it) and fix up the end of this chapter.
I did get one email from a long time reader who who expressed that he was fed up with my delays and the slow pace of my ‘emo’ comic and would no longer be reading it. “Goodbye torment and hello freedom,” were his final words on the matter. Well, it’s always sad to loose a reader, but hopefully the ‘torment’ loyal readers have been suffering is almost over. Since Jack drives my schedule right now, I can’t promise exact times that the comic will be posted (not like I was every very good at that anyway) but I am confident that I am getting back to the 3 comic per week schedule.
One last thing I’d like to cover before I get back to work on Friday’s comic - Advertising. Advertising was always a problemwith the old site because much of it was manually maintained, which is not appropriate when people are paying you for it.
One of the best new features of the new MT site is the integration of some decent banner ad management software. It’s soooo much more reliable and easier to use than the old system. My intent was to start accepting advertising again once this new system was in place, but since the new site went live only a week or so before Jack was born... It’s time to open it back up. ^^;;
If you are interested in advertising on the Megatokyo site, top of page banners, newsbox banners or text ads, or even on the Megatokyo forums (a new feature), please email me at email@example.com.
I’d also like to say a big thank you to Funimation for helping support Megatokyo with their advertising over the past few years. They were very patient my struggles with the old site, and it has been a real pleasure to push their ads on a more manageable, programmable, professional system. Be sure to check out the Funimation banners that run on the Megatokyo site and click away on anything that interests you. :)
Ok! That was long winded and full of fluff, but thank you for reading it through. This has been one our more insane years, and the past few months have been some of the craziest ever. The one thing I am starting to feel, which I haven’t felt in a long time, is a sense of feeling ‘settled’. I do my best work when I feel ‘settled.’ Just need to make sure it doesn’t turn into ‘sinking.’ :P
Thank you, as always, for reading Megatokyo. Now i'm off to get back to work on the next comic, while Jack is still asleep.
