"Hatch and Replace"

One thing you may have noticed if you have read Megatokyo both online and in the dead tree versions is that there are quite a number of comics in the archive here that appear to be unfinished but show up in Megatokyo Volume 6 in finished, fully hatched and rendered form. Most of these were from the first year of having a new baby in the house and just getting a comic posted was a major feat, but i DID have to finish them for the book. As with many things on this site (coughcharachterpagecough) The one thing i never did was go back and update the web-versions of these comics with the finished, fully hatched versions.

Of course, struggling as i do with getting new comics done it's been hard to justify taking the time to grind through and process all of these, but thanks to the effort of Jon "Hoolibas", who devoted many long evenings to grinding through the list of comics to be processed, the task is now done... though Jon actually finished the task months ago, I JUST now got to going through and updating all the comics in question, so finally you can appreciate Jon's efforts. Thanks Jon :)

Of course, this big update is kinda hard to see unless you are taking a pass through the archives and reading chapter 9 and 10, but trust me there were a lot of them. In fact, if you are that curious, here is a list, complete with links to the revised comics:

[1062], [1081], [1089], [1091], [1092], [1093], [1094], [1095], [1096], [1097], [1099], [1100], [1107], [1108], [1110], [1111], [1112], [1113], [1114], [1115], [1116], [1117], [1118], [1119], [1125], [1148], [1149], [1150], [1152], [1153], [1154], [1157], [1159], [1162], [1165], [1170], [1171], [1172], [1175], [1180], [1181], [1182], [1183], [1185], [1188], [1191], [1195], [1200], [1201], [1202], [1203], [1204], [1205], [1206], [1207], [1208], [1209], [1225], [1226]

Please note - you might have to refresh your browser to get the revised version (especially if you have visited any of these pages recently). There ARE a few more comics in chapter 11 that i need to get hatched and updated - six of them, i believe. As i get the comic itself back up to speed here i'm going to see about getting those done.

It's just kinda nice to finally have the Megatokyo archives up to snuff for the first time in, um, well, ever. :P

As for other stuff - the Megatokyo Visual Novel project is one hella lot of work. I knew this, of course, but it's chugging along. I lost a lot more time than i thought i would finishing up the material for the Omnibus collection, but that is now all behind me and done. It's odd thinking in such cinematic terms, but it's starting to shape up well - just a ton more work ahead to get 'er done.

Another comic in the works for this week, got some momentum on this chapter point and well, this latest comic got things moving along with a bit of a jump. I'll save the apologies blah blah blah and just get back to work on that comic thing i seem to remember i am supposed to be doing.

If you've been following the blog over at Dark Horse, you've seen Carl Horn talk about the issue of Kodansha's Faust that contained a preview of MegaTokyo in preparation for the release of the full Volume 1 in Japanese in the Kodansha Box line. There are also some more photos of it that a fan posted at the time. In the last two photos there you can see the new comic that Fred prepared for the introduction. He was concerned that the unpolished art and story of the early comic might not be the best first impression to give Japanese audiences of what he can do. I think a handful of us and the Kodansha translator are the only ones who ever saw that page in English until now. I managed to cajole Fred into pulling it out of the dark, forgotten corners of his hard drive so that we could present it to you now, as once again those early pages are hitting shelves and hopefully finding new readers.

I've said a lot about fixing up the errors large and small that were present in the pages that made up the first three books. Things went into a major time crunch as the print deadline approached, so I'm not even sure what was actually fixed and what wasn't. I'm a little nervous to open the book and find out. Still, this is the best presentation so far available of the first five chapters of MegaTokyo, including the original two exclusive EndGames stories and the new beach omake that was previewed here back in December and January. Also, it's the first time they've been actively in print in a while. With the MegaGear store still offline to give Fred breathing room to work on the Virtual Novel game, I know you all have money burning a hole in your pocket waiting to buy some MegaTokyo stuff. Here's your chance!
