"Hatch and Replace"

Tuesday - January 21, 2014

[Piro] - 16:13:07 - [link here]

One thing you may have noticed if you have read Megatokyo both online and in the dead tree versions is that there are quite a number of comics in the archive here that appear to be unfinished but show up in Megatokyo Volume 6 in finished, fully hatched and rendered form. Most of these were from the first year of having a new baby in the house and just getting a comic posted was a major feat, but i DID have to finish them for the book. As with many things on this site (coughcharachterpagecough) The one thing i never did was go back and update the web-versions of these comics with the finished, fully hatched versions.

Of course, struggling as i do with getting new comics done it's been hard to justify taking the time to grind through and process all of these, but thanks to the effort of Jon "Hoolibas", who devoted many long evenings to grinding through the list of comics to be processed, the task is now done... though Jon actually finished the task months ago, I JUST now got to going through and updating all the comics in question, so finally you can appreciate Jon's efforts. Thanks Jon :)

Of course, this big update is kinda hard to see unless you are taking a pass through the archives and reading chapter 9 and 10, but trust me there were a lot of them. In fact, if you are that curious, here is a list, complete with links to the revised comics:

[1062], [1081], [1089], [1091], [1092], [1093], [1094], [1095], [1096], [1097], [1099], [1100], [1107], [1108], [1110], [1111], [1112], [1113], [1114], [1115], [1116], [1117], [1118], [1119], [1125], [1148], [1149], [1150], [1152], [1153], [1154], [1157], [1159], [1162], [1165], [1170], [1171], [1172], [1175], [1180], [1181], [1182], [1183], [1185], [1188], [1191], [1195], [1200], [1201], [1202], [1203], [1204], [1205], [1206], [1207], [1208], [1209], [1225], [1226]

Please note - you might have to refresh your browser to get the revised version (especially if you have visited any of these pages recently). There ARE a few more comics in chapter 11 that i need to get hatched and updated - six of them, i believe. As i get the comic itself back up to speed here i'm going to see about getting those done.

It's just kinda nice to finally have the Megatokyo archives up to snuff for the first time in, um, well, ever. :P

As for other stuff - the Megatokyo Visual Novel project is one hella lot of work. I knew this, of course, but it's chugging along. I lost a lot more time than i thought i would finishing up the material for the Omnibus collection, but that is now all behind me and done. It's odd thinking in such cinematic terms, but it's starting to shape up well - just a ton more work ahead to get 'er done.

Another comic in the works for this week, got some momentum on this chapter point and well, this latest comic got things moving along with a bit of a jump. I'll save the apologies blah blah blah and just get back to work on that comic thing i seem to remember i am supposed to be doing.

The Muffin Cart shall live!

"Muffin Cart!"

MegaTokyo seems to bring out the arts and crafts in me. Carving pumpkins for Halloween? Some Darkly Cute would look good on there. Snow globes with a slot in the bottom so you can insert a photo of your grandkids? Sad Kimiko goes in there instead. Papercraft Macintosh computer? That just begs to be part of a papercraft ph34rbot. Child-friendly foam croquet set? That can be repurposed as the Girl Phase "Smack-o-Mallet". Chibi Godzilla plushie? One zombie bite later and you have a Zom-Zom plushie. I even bought some toy helicopter things to try to put together Largo's flying steampunk hat, though there's an issue of weight versus sturdiness that I'm not sure I can overcome with the simple toy-isle flying units.

One thing has eluded me for years, though. Largo's Mr. Muffin Honda Gyro Canopy scooter. That's way too complex to really make myself, but surely there's a miniature version to be had. Alas, there was none to be found. Until now! Releasing this fall from Tomytec's Buhinmokei series of scale models, not one but two 1/12 scale models of the Gyro Canopy! The first is a plain version while the second has the necessary cargo carrier on the rear. It is branded as a Pizza-la delivery scooter, but those logos will be easy to cover over with Mr. Muffin signage. Now the only thing I need is a 1/12 scale bunny suit guy...

In other news, the location of the Fredarting live drawing stream has been in flux lately, but hopefully we've settled out for the long haul located at Twitch.tv. I've updated the local Fredarting page to have the proper embedded video now. Those of you with accounts at justin.tv should be able to use the same login at Twitch.
