A Ph33rbot Christmas!

"A ph33rbot Christmas"

Friday - December 22, 2006

[Piro] - 06:45:00 - [link here]

Hey Folks,

Well, it looks like Sarah and I survived the holiday rush, and now we can take a few days and enjoy the holiday ourselves. In spite of all the work, we do manage to have a little fun here and there... like the following.

Back in November we picked up this funny little animatronic marching penguin christmas... thing. You know, one of those decorations that sing and dance and are used by children and morally challenged adults to torture and drive the sanity away from the rest of us (i believe that consumer robotics is one of the 14 deadly evils of the modern age). It was cute, it had three Penguins that spun and march and danced around while singing a rough and tough military-like tune. Sarah had an idea.

"hey, lets put ph33rbots over them and we can have dancing ph33rbots!"

So, after much experimentation and finally sitting down to assemble the thing (and changing the batteries) we completed our little project. We sorta turned it into a video christmas card and uploaded it to Youtube:

(You can view a larger version and whatnot overat the youtube site.)

We hope you enjoy it, it's kind of fun (especially when they start knocking things off of each other). It was a fun project and i admit that I spent some time working on this rather than the comic over the past two days. Hey, it's Christmas, i can goof off a little. :)

Sarah and I wish you and your friends and families a safe and happy holiday!

Holiday schedule - comic 947 should be up shortly, i'll have a DPD for Christmas that i'll post over the weekend, then we return to our regular schedule on Wednesday.

"Say no more"

Friday - December 22, 2006

[Dom] - 01:00:00 - [link here]

This isn't going to be my last rant of the year - I write too much when I'm away from home, so I'll keep this short.

I'm playing Blue Dragon right now. I'm not far into it, but I can tell I'm going to like it all the way through. Why? Because the game starts with a land shark.

Meanwhile, it says a lot about me that when I watched this video for the first time, I started thinking "Wait, all these dance moves are... false start, wide left, wide right, there is no penalty on the play, delay of game, offsides, roughing the kicker, unsportsmanlike conduct, player is ejected." (the time cue is at 0:50, if you're wondering).

I don't know which fact speaks more volumes, the fact that I was parsing idol dances through football, or the fact that I was watching iDOLM@STER videos in the first place.

Speaking on my growing figure mania: poor Asmodeus has become an unwilling crack dealer, since I'm the one who finds the figures and he buys them instead of the usual exchange Fred and I have with him, which is where he hunts down objects to rub on us. Poor Asmo had to deal with a monster -sized package (note PS2 for scale) to send to me. Meanwhile, Bob the Trout got me an awesome Devil May Cry figure, and in accordance with her requests, I post this posed image of Dante taking advantage of his size compared to the size of other figures I own.

And, finally, a note on how Ed and I greet each other: DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!.

Merry Christmas, all! See you from Japan!
